Relaunched in September  2014, The Seagull Youth Theatre has already settled straight back into the building as if it had never left. It runs on a Wednesday evening with three different age groups, 5-8yrs, 9-12yrs and 13+. The first two sessions are run by Louise Harrison who is assisted  by Grace Kent and Anya Bunn  and by Edwin Mascorn for the teenage group. Occasionally we hire in guest tutors to expand the teaching offered and to give the children different experiences.

Classes include;

  • Performing skills with exercise and games.
  • Script and Improvisation work.
  • Technical- Lighting, Sound, Stage management.
  • Costumes and Prop Making.
  • Musical Theatre and Dance

These classes are great for giving your child a fantastic all round experience in all disciplines of performing whilst helping them to develop and grow in self confidence.

Wednesday;

Aged 5 – 8          5pm – 6pm                  £50 ( based on an 11 week term)

Aged 9 – 12        6.15pm – 7.15pm        £50  (based on an 11 week term)

Aged 13+           7.30pm – 9pm             £66  ( based on an 11 week term)

All groups will perform small showcases to parents throughout the year and will produce full scale productions in our theatre in the summer.

It's been a long road since the Seagull Theatre's closure, prompting an impassioned response from the public. A campaign was begun in earnest to save the Seagull Theatre, known as the SOS (Save Our Seagull) campaign. Although the journey's not over yet, it's worth remembering how it all began.
