Sixties Explosion – Tribute Show

August 19

| 12/10

Enjoy a night of magical nostalgia from these four experienced musicians who take their audiences back to the most influential, high energy, decade in pop music history. Listen once again to those haunting melodies that were the musical backdrop of that decade. The FOD Band have a unique insight into the Legends of the sixties – Lead Guitarist Martin Donald was formerly Musical Director to the Drifters and the Platters and Lead Singer Geoff Thomas has appeared on many sixties shows featuring stars such as Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Searchers, and  The Supremes. The FOD Band also backed Tony Jackson the original lead singer of The Searchers when he returned to the stage in the 1990`s.

The two ‘Simons’ are the driving force in the band. The mighty Simon Dove, who’s drum feature has long been a big part of the show and  Simon Rownes on bass and vocals – a fantastic talent who adds an amazing dimension to the group.  Together as The FOD Band they make the Sixties come alive.

What the media say about the FOD Band

`I was privileged to hear one of the best bands around – The FOD Band who, in my opinion, can compete with anyone out there.`    Steve Scruton – BBC Essex

`The FOD Band have earned a reputation as a talented , hard-working and value for money act who can pour out sixties hits with a rapid fire delivery that reminds the audience of the best in sixties music in one easy lesson`

Mike Neal, THE BEAT GOES ON magazine

I was truly entertained at Braintree Football Club last night by the legendary Fat Old Dad band. It was simply a great fun night with something for everybody. Great Music and plenty of madcap fun.`

Dave Heaney – Leisure FM Radio

Fat Old Dad`s Christmas Show took place in a very cosy Halstead Empire.         Charismatic lead man Geoff dressed up as ` Tina Turner ` and `Flower Power Man`, multi-skilled Martin looked wonderful in white playing guitar, banjo and harmonica, drummer. Simon jammed energetically and bass guitarist Rownsey did a mean Tom Robinson. They really created a spirit in the sky  –  this band`s spirit seems indestructible.                     Pat  Rudkins – Halstead Gazette

Thanks Guys….. what a Brilliant action packed show – our audience loved itPhil Pattie –  Manager at Braintree Arts Theatre, Braintree Essex

It's been a long road since the Seagull Theatre's closure, prompting an impassioned response from the public. A campaign was begun in earnest to save the Seagull Theatre, known as the SOS (Save Our Seagull) campaign. Although the journey's not over yet, it's worth remembering how it all began.
