Local historians Chris Brooks and Bob Collis have again joined forces to deliver a fascinating insight into how the penultimate year of the war affected Lowestoft. 1944 was a tumultous year for the town which saw the last air raids on the town, the clearance of some beaches, the terror of the V-1 “Doodlebugs”, yet more evacuees and the invasion of Europe.
Using wartime images, CGI artwork and personal accounts, this is a one-off opportunity to view the changing fortunes of world war two and learn how a previous generation of Lowestoft folk endured and ultimately triumphed over adversity.
