Frankenstein and The Dunwich Horror

October 29

| £7

The Old Time Radio Club perform authentic vintage radio dramatisation under “broadcast” conditions, using voice actors, live music, live sound-effects and a live studio audience.

They will be returning to The Seagull (theatre) for Halloween 2017 with an original adaptation and double bill of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” and “The Dunwich Horror” by H.P. Lovecraft.

FRANKENSTEIN
…is a novel written by English author Mary Shelley that tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who creates a grotesque but sapient creature in an unorthodox scientific experiment.

THE DUNWICH HORROR…
…is a short story by H. P. Lovecraft, first published in the April 1929 issue of Weird Tales, which takes place in Dunwich, a town in Massachusetts, USA.
When a traveller in north central Massachusetts takes a wrong turn, he comes upon a lonely and curious country.
Without knowing why, one hesitates to ask directions from the gnarled, solitary figures spied now and then on crumbling doorsteps or on the sloping, rock-strown meadows…

The group been described as “the Archers meets a 1950’s B-Movie” and are always entertaining, incredulous and off the wall! If you’ve never witnessed a radio play being performed live, be sure to treat yourself – but book early as they are always popular!

It's been a long road since the Seagull Theatre's closure, prompting an impassioned response from the public. A campaign was begun in earnest to save the Seagull Theatre, known as the SOS (Save Our Seagull) campaign. Although the journey's not over yet, it's worth remembering how it all began.
